DEFLECTION OF BEAMS

Image
DEFLECTION : In engineering, deflection  is the displacement of the member from original position under the influence of external forces. In beams generally the external forces causing the deflection are transverse loads. But in general we cannot see the deflection in our structures, as the beams are designed to resist loading and deflection even if there is deflection it will be of small magnitude which we can't see with our naked eyes. DEFORMATION : On earth every thing has a form (i.e, its shape and size ), when these things are subjected to external factors they undergo some permanent changes in their shape, and size and the changes are known as  Deformations. What is difference between Deflection and Deformation? Generally, there is a misconception in students that  Deflection and Deformation are basically same but that is not totally true.Deflection is a type of deformation but with non permanent changes in form. There are many types of deformation such as extension, shrinking

PREPARATION TIPS FOR ENTRANCE EXAMS

Image
Hi guys I'm going to tell some tips about how to prepare for CET (common entrance test) exams. First of all don't panic cet exams are neither hard or easy it's based on perception only. Anybody can crack CET exams easily just remember that practice makes man perfect. Secondly divide the exam syllabus into three parts hard, easy, and very easy. Concentrate on harder part as we can easily crack the easy and very easy part with little effort. Now prepare a time table giving more time to hard syllabus. For students going to college prepare time table giving hardest subject 90 min and easy subject 50 min and make sure you follow it.(suggested to reduce strain on students). To get best results utilise 60% to 70% of the time studying and use the remaining time practicing the studied part and rectifying the mistakes and improve yourself. Follow same for easy subjects also( To score more marks than expected). Every week try to take a test of the chapters/subjects you have studied i

SIMPLE STRESS AND STRAIN

Image
SIMPLE STRESS AND STRAIN STRESS : STRESS IS THE INTERNAL RESISTANCE OFFERED BY THE BODY TO DEFORMATION. STRESS IS USUALLY MEASURED BY THE INTENSITY OF FORCE PER UNIT AREA. STRESS = P/A WHERE   P= FORCE               A= AREA OF CROSS SECTION UNIT OF STRESS: N/m 2 ,KN/m 2 ,N/mm 2 WHY STRESS IS EQUAL TO FORCE/AREA? DID YOU THOUGHT ABOUT IT WHY STRESS IS FORCE/AREA,DON'T WORRY I'LL EXPLAIN,THERE ARE SOME ASSUMPTIONS AND THEY ARE  THE OBJECT IS HOMOGENEOUS  THE OBJECT IS ISOTROPIC AND   THE OBJECT ACTS AS A SINGLE MEMBER AND NOT AS LAYERS. WHEN A LOAD IS APPLIED THE WHOLE OBJECT UNDERGOES DEFORMATION AND THE VALUE OF DEFORMATION IS SAME AT EVERY POINT ON THE CROSS SECTION OF THE BEAM PERPENDICULAR TO THE LOAD.THIS HAPPENS DUE TO THE LOAD IS DISTRIBUTED TO THE WHOLE AREA EQUALLY. NOW,        10X = 10KN ( HERE X= UNIT AREA )                   1X  =      ?                                FOR LOAD APPLIED ON UNIT AREA BY CROSS MULTIPLYING WE GET = 1X * 10KN  /10X = 1KN
